Houses near Pipera, for the price of an apartment

Pipera is the most sought-after residential area in northern Bucharest: international schools, offices, fast access. It is also one of the most expensive. Eight minutes away by car, in Tunari, the same budget buys something else: a detached house with its own garden.

How far is Tunari from Pipera, really?
Strada Erou Iancu Nicolae is 8 minutes away. The international schools (Mark Twain, Verita, AISB) are 8 minutes away, the British School 12. Mega Image is 5 minutes away, Lidl and Penny 8, the airport 15. For anyone who works in Pipera or the north of the city, the commute is shorter than from many Bucharest neighbourhoods.
What you gain with a house
A garden for the children and the dog, no neighbours above or below, parking at the gate, room for a home office, space for whatever you want to add (solar panels, a gazebo, a pool). And quiet: Strada Berzei is private, with no through traffic.
The trade-offs
To be honest: there is no lift, no building manager to call the plumber, and in winter you clear the snow from the drive yourself. Public transport is weaker than in Pipera; a family car is a must. For most families who come to see the house, the garden wins.
